How about that Half-Life 2

With all bias or fanboyism aside anyone who judges any leaked version of HL2 that is not the final gold version has no grounds for making any sort of claims against VALVe's planned feature set when they find it not yet implemented in the leaked alpha/beta/last minute pre gold/whatever.

 

Some accusations are reasonable enough, but something as retarded as ?the AI isn?t exactly the way they claimed? or whatever, that?s clearly crossing the line. The AI is probably some of the last bits tweaked and tested before the game is finalized.

 

The game just isn?t finished, and I?m betting it would have been delayed to 2004 with or without the leak. The whole Juarez community thinks they have everything figured out but VALVe could very well delay the game another year, such as Half-Life 1 and any given development version of CS:CZ, and we could see something entirely new. I?ve been waiting since HL1 for HL2, and I intend to wait until it?s released. Not because of high moral obligations or something retarded like that, I downloaded the doom3 alpha, but because I want to play HL2, not some build of the month that is missing half the content/features, doesn?t have everything implemented, is subject to change completely and spontaneously in terms of game play dynamics and design, and isn?t a piece of software VALVe considers to be a real product that can carry the HL2 name.

 

When it finally does come out and you can?t block doors with tables or bust open soda machines to get a bunch of free pepsi, then we?ll talk.

The CS:CZ is also available on the internet as previously mentioned. I decided to download it and check it out. It looks a little better than CS, but not where the graphics should be for a 2003 game. It doesn't have much of a plot as well.

 

 

Apparently they decided to put Sean Connery in the game as well.

 

 

This isn't the "real" CS:CZ though, it's the ditched project (as MikeJ will tell you 100 times). It is a full game though, unlike HL2, and only about 1/3 the size too.

Axe: what did you find wrong with the plot? Too corny or was just no effort put into it?

 

Is the game allright or like an average game. Reason I ask is because I am wondering if I should download it and have it worth the effort for my 56k.

Well there's no continuity in the plot for starters. I've only played the first four missions, out of about 10-15 total. It goes like this; each mission you're a new person (one of the different CT's), the plot is basically the same as the desciptions for regular CS maps. There's a bomb planted, or hostages to rescue, etc. Basically you go through the map killing everyone in sight, then defuse the bomb or whatever. If you like CS I suppose you'll enjoy it, but don't expect too much from it. Some things are really pointless and you can't do much on your own. I would say overall it's an average game and not worth the download on 56k. I'll probably end up playing it some more and finishing it, at which time I'll be able to give a better review of it.

 

There's better things out there worth a download if you're looking for something with a good plot. Vice City is excellent as far as the story goes, but then again I did get bored of it after a while. I hear Hitman 2 and Max Payne are good if you haven't played either of those as well.
