So we leave at about 11pm monday night.
Driving tunes: pinfloyd meddle and darkside of the moon, metallica s&m, pantera, iron maiden, slayer, mr bones (local band) and a ton of other shit that i probably slept through
we made a stop for food at 2am and at 5 we went to a truck stop and got some sleep. we arrived at the hotel at about 8am. After checking in and hot boxing the hotel room we headed to the downtown montreal area in search of the venue. The show was that night and we had no tickets and we had no idea where the place was. We walked around for about an hour and we got hungry (it was like 11am by then) After eating ass combos (see first post) we headed for the street in search of the metropolis, it didnt take very long to find it actually. it was about 1 pm by this time so we diecided to go back to the hotel for some sleep before the show. We slept from about 130pm to 630pm. We left the hotel and headed for the venue, with in 2 mintues of parking the car we we're offered ticket by scalpers left and right some were going for 80 atleast. Finally we found tickets for $50 (they were 40 origionally) When we got inline we realized the weed was in the car so 3 of the 5 of us headed back. My self and this anoying russian guy who is too stupid to make a pipe hit of smoke a roach were stuck together. We were in within 10 mintues of them leaving. Finally we all met up inside and we head for this smoking bar room thingy. The second we step in we smell weed. he have a seat and argue about smoking a joint before damageplan comes one. all of a sudden security rushes into the room and heads toward the people smoking a jonit near the window. for a sec we think they gonna get kicked out for smoking weed, then security askes them to movie aver and they close the window wtf?? they didnt bust them....those guys were smoking a jonit right infront of security? wtf did the pot laws in canada change with out me knowing? So its sbout 5 mintues to 8 and damageplan with be on any minute. we smoke the join and head into the pit area. Damage plan was fucking great live, im not a big fan and i didnt even like pantera that much but these guys really knew how to put on a show. The solos literally felt like my ear drums were gonna pop, they were so fucking high pitched. dime made his guitar queel like a little pig. half way through their set in te middle of a song he did a 10 mintue solo, everyone left the stage and he just stood there going nuts. When they all came back they ened the song and went straight into another one. They had been playing for about 45 mintues now and i was sure they we're pretty much done...all of a sudden dime starts talking about panter and how him and vinni never forgot about the fans, boom straight into WALK right then and there, i swear if i didnt know any better i would have thought it was phill doing the vocals. they played afew more panter a songs then they were done, their set was just about an hour. We go back to the smoking room, to chill before slayer, even more people are smoking joint in there at this point, we ask around for some hash, but know has any. after smoking we decide to head for the washroom,half way there we heard sound check...omg... so we rush to the washroom, right in the middle of my piss they start playing god hates us all. We rush down to the floor and start going nuts...EVERY FUCKING SONG WAS LIKE PERFECT!!!!!!!! the solos were even better, they were almost the same, but they were adding little extra things, it was so fucking great...they must have played for over 2 hours at one point they did 7 fucking songs in a row right after each other, a first time person seeing slayer wud have thought it was one song lol. i was expecting the voclas to suck, but their were really good, tom did do that thing that i hate though, during some of the really cool lines and choruses in a song the walks away from the mic so you can hear the crowd sing it, it sounds cool but i wanna hear him. anyways they played pretty much everything i wanted to hear and then some, except south of heaven, but thats ok, cause it was worth it.we got back to the hotel at about 1am and we went straight to sleep, we got up the next day at aobut 10am and headed for old city montreal, we literally spent the whole day walking around the old city drinking and smoking joints...ill post some pics later. we left montrea at about 645pm and got back in toronto about 130 am, we did make afew stops for food and afew joint stops...oh yeah we got hash too, while we were drunk in public we went on thse boat thingies and we were asking people on the land for hash as we paddled by, eventually these 2 guys sold us like 5 grams for really cheap and we rolled a joint with some weed and hash and smoked it in our little boats. it was fucking great, i had lotsa fun and we got tons of pics, too bad none are from the actual show though, the moron left his camera in the car when he went back from the weed. anyways i do have a pick of the sogn on the outside of the venue so check it out
