If you're old enough to be physically capable of having sex, you're old enough to know the consequences.Personally, I really don't agree with you there. ?As I get older, my respect for age increases more and more (ha ha), and I begin to realise why laws about age are put in place. ?It may seem to you now that you are mature and responsible, but from personal experience I would say that now (I'm 18), I'm a very different person to who I was 3 years ago, and while I may have thought I was mature and sensible then, I realise now that I really wasn't (and probably in 3 years time I will say the same about me now).
Oh yeah, and girls as young as 10 or 11 are occasionally (or mebe often?) physically capable of having sex (and getting pregnant).

No way in hell a 9 year old would know the consequences of having a baby and having unprotected sex, let alone even knowing what sex is.
