OK, so I am trying to impress some people from my college in order to get some sort of job working with their CIS department.  So I thought I'd do something with Flash as I hadn't done anything with it in awhile and its rather popular these days.

What I am trying to do is add scroll buttons to control this textbox which reads text from a .txt file called scrolltext.txt.  The link to the movie I am working with is here: http://members.dsl-only.net/~kjones/alex/test.swf

As you can see the buttons do not work.  I am using this tutorial and have done all the scripting in the tutorial prior to adding the scrollbar: http://www.flashkit.com/tutoria....x.shtml

I am omitting the scrollbar from my website.

Anyone with Flash experience: help me please.

i only konw the extreme basics of flash 5 so i can't help you but that's a great background photo.. how is it so readily resizable? is it png? if so how the hell do you convert jpg to png i've wanted to konw that for ages

a straigh swf file will resize itself to fit whatever space it is put in.  if you imbed it into a .html page it will stay at whatever size you want it.

btw: i gave up on this project.  oh well.

btw #2: to convert from .jpg to .png i would think you would just open up the .jpg in photoshop and save as .png.  that makes the most sense to me.
