i want: a cool soundcard with nice extras and that will stay resonabley cutting edge for a while.

and a set of 5.1 speakers. must have lots of punch. preferably big in all respects.

now that little lot would be simple enough, but there is a compliccation: i really do want my speakers to have a headphone jack on them.

im always flipping between my headphones and speakers and i m damned if im gonna crawl to teh back of my machine every time.

buget is unlimited within reason, but plz this is my beer money.

here are some sexy speakers with headphone jacks that i like a lot, but arnt released in the UK yet: http://www.klipsch.com/products/productdetail.asp?id=398

i was asking this question as well cuz i am getting a new computer soon.  i think that instead of getting comp speakers i am going to get a receiver and a some decent home audio bookshelf speakers.

the speakers that i am looking at are the polk audio rt25i's ($200 at www.jandr.com), and the receiver is a panasonic SA-HE70 ($180 at www.jandr.com) so total is about $370, add a hercules gametheater xp sound card ($112 at newegg.com) total is around $482 but then you get better sound, the cool box that comes with the gtxp and the receiver which has AM/FM radio and stuff

but otherwise, i guess go for the klipsch, they seem gud.
