Uggh I am not sure how that is going to work.  I only can think of one suggestion at this time(later when I am more awake maybe I can come up with something better).  First if you dont have to much installed since upgrading or you can backup reformat and go back to a FAT32 OS to retrieve what you need, or you can dual boot OS's and use WINXP I know that it is capable of accessing info from both types of FAT's.  This will/should work,  due to the fact that I have a 20GB drive that is NFTS and a 60GB that is FAT32 on XP Pro.

shouldnt win2k be able to read a fat32 partition?  there should be atleast a way to change the filesystem format from fat32-ntfs without losing any info.  Or, can 2k not even see the HD at all?

I have never used win2k so I dont know, but if you cannot see the harddrive at all in windows, try looking for a program on the internet to convert the filesystem, if 2k doesnt have one.

I use Win2k Pro and it is able to read both NTFS and FAT32 file systems. Your problem lies somewhere else.

get partition magic, and if the problem is that windows cant read the fat32 partition, i think partition magic would let you convert it to ntfs.
