So do you think this is one of those extremely rare movies in which the sequals are better than the first movie?

The first one rocked ass. Somehowe, this sequel is infinitely better. I don't know how they did it. That puts a lot of pressure on the third one. The last movie sequel that managed that was Terminator 2. I hope to God I'm not disappointed by the second Matrix film or Terminator 3.

I really hope the second Matrix flick has *far* more emphasis on the philosophical side of things... The action scenes in the first were great (well, the first few hundred times you've seen them. after that, plus all the parodies, it got really old) but there needed to be more philosophy!

have you ever read teh book The Matrix & Philosophy?  it's pretty kewl and about the philosophical points pulled from the matrix.  in the same series they have one abuot hte simpsons & philosophy.  they compare bart to nietsche it's a great read ;0

it came out today in tasmania so i'll be along to see it sometime in the next month or so. no rush for this happy camper!

well they're a series of essays so you could probably just read one or two and get the jist of it, but they're not that long. ?few hundred pages maybe..
