It seems that my school has been tightening up on INTARNET SECURITY. We now have two programs yhat block us from "bad" sites. The first one, Sonic Wall, is a joke. It's easy to work around (Just click on a link that leads to your site), but the second one is a bit of a bitch. It's called Squid Guard and I've only come across it today, meaning it's new. The trick I used with Sonic Wall doesn't work and it has stopped me from visiting sites like Something Awful, Stickdeath, even the ;0 Main Page.

So, you must know what I'm about to ask. Are there any tips or tricks that could help me get around this program? It's boring as Hell right here and the last thing I need is to have sites blocked from me.

if you can go to the tools/internet options and connect through a proxy to bypass the firewall/filter that is blocking you from those sites, it will work

that's what i did back in high school http://www.badbeats.com/JFK/Pictures/monocle2.gif

Blimpet we have similar multiple softwares at work.  The main one being websense.  I can get to ;0 from work so I dont really mind, but alot of other stuff is blocked.  websense's filters are fully configuarable and man do they spend the time to add new urls.  :(

Anyways good luck with what JFK said.  I know that I cant do that at work.  Every computer is assigned its own unique IP on the division network, so the minute your try to change it or bypass it your connection is immeadiatly severed from the network and the outside world.   :(

Well, the tech guys over here are probably the most eccentric and determined bunch I've ever met, so they're bound to find what's going on and then the jig is up. But considering how often I get to use a computer, I'm all fine until the school year ends.

In any case, the guy who does the majority of snooping is a pretty cool guy. He found Doom and Wolfenstein on my account and suggested that I do away with 'em before some of the more twitchy members of staff get a clue. No reprimand, no anger. I guess I'm rather lucky in that sense.

admins at my school are fools, unless someone tips them off they have no idea what is going on.  We got into the network neighborhood one day and were browsing though all the computers in the district.  As for getting around the stuff to get to certain sites, you need something like safeweb (i dont think it is around anymore).  Safeweb would setup an encrypted connection between you and their servers to get to certain sites that are usually blocked.  Only thing is if your school finds out you are getting around the proxy, they will most likely suspend you.

As some of you know, kids at my school installed HL and were playin lan games in school.  Some how the admin found out and theatened to suspend the people that did it, however he did not know who were the ones that were playin, he had to search logs for that.  Anyway long story short, only our cisco class has Script Logic load up when we login into any computer in school instead of the standard login script.

Web security tools fucking suck.  They do nothing but inhibit the education of the students.  If you wanted to do a report on a contraversial subject, then good luck, cause your not doing research at school(unless its old enough to be in books, etc).

As long as i have addictinggames.com im fine :D

at our school, they only restrict the really COMMON sites like playboy.com

One time, the kid next to me had "black booty babes" and "ebony milk" etc all in his history. so i used my leet haxing skills and looked at the cookies, and found out who was logged in when visiting there.

then my teacher (50 yr old woman, computer teacher) wa slike "go to that site and see if it works".. i was like "what?!?" and so i went there, and sure enought it worked  :naughty:   but, my taecher was like "OM Y GOD LET ME GET THE PRINCIPAL"l.. lolol she ran out and left it on there, and like all the kids in my class came over and were like "WHOAAA AWESOME" lol

btw im in 11th grade  :darkstar: the other kids are freshman im assuming.

btw the guy who looked it up is this huge black guy  :D
