Took a trip up to the Penn State University Park campus this weekend. Holy shit what a nice school!! I don't think anyone here goes to Penn State so I wont be able to get anyones opinion on the school. Right now they are building a new building for the Computer Science and Information Systems majors, and I think it will be done around the time I start goin to college.
It was a long ass drive, 4 hours from south jersey to the middle of PA and at first I felt it wasn't worth the time to spend driving to the school to even think about going there. But when we went on the tour...I was just amazed by the school. So far I have looked at Rutgers and Lehigh.
Rutgers was ok when I visited it, but it seemed kinda rundown and the campus was ugly and super huge. It also seemed like all there was to do was go to parties. I'm not sayin parties are bad but my cousin who goes to ECU said that just partying all the time gets boring after a while. I like the big campus feel full of alot of students but there didnt seemed to be that many activities to do on campus.
Then we went to Lehigh, this school just blew me away, it had a nice campus that was pretty small so everything was within walking distance, but it seems like a bitch to try to get into. I'm sure if I applied early decision I would have a good chance of getting in, but I dunno. Also academic wise they seemed really strong in math and stuff, espeically since it is an engineering school. Only thing is, its 40k a year..a little too much.
And then this weekend we went to Penn State. holy shit!! This campus is so nice and there seems to be alot more to do. Theres like 300 and something clubs, of course all the sports games, concerts at the stadium there, and the buildings are kept nicer than Lehigh and ALOT nicer than Rutgers. Academic wise its more of a general school then just engineering, but over all it seems like a good school. The main campus has like 34k students on it, but its really not that big of a school. Also since its in the middle of nowhere, everything to do is on the campus since there are no major nearby cities to go to. I would have to say it has the best qualities of both Rutgers and Lehigh. It has a large student body, but many old buildings from like 1800 era that classes are in. It also has strong academics and its not as hard to get into as Lehigh, but doesn't let just anyone in like at rutgers.
I dunno this campus seemed very confterable to me when we walked around. So where else is everyone looking for school?
Oh yeah this Sat night they were havin a LAN party at the student center or the HUD as its called.
