I got the news a few minutes ago. My mom and her other siblings only said that she died at nine and that they're coming back from LA as soon as possible (they drove 400 miles to there by vehicle).

What really got to me was last night was when someone mentioned my aunt's death as a joke in the OTF. I took offense to this because at the time I didn't even know she was almost dead and I prefer to keep details of my real life separate from that of the OTF. I have a serious problem with people who knowingly talk shit behind others' backs, but I will only post this here because there are less insensitive pricks here than in the OTF. I'm venting over someone's callous and insensitive joking.

There is a much bigger problem though. She left behind her husband and two kids, both older than me. I don't know about the younger one, but the older one has some serious depression problems long before all this happened. Her relationship with the rest of my mom's family has been rather strained lately because of some internal strife. I wonder if I should break the news to her. I'm fairly sure the younger sibling has already told her about it, but I don't know.

What should I do? If I talk to her about it, it might drive her over the edge. I know her boyfriend is a good man and will help her get through all this. But I don't want to be the bearer of bad news.

You should probably take your concerns to a family member, they would know what is best most likely, even if you feel a little uncomfortable talking about this kind of thing.

Also, my guess is that a little more than half of the posters on the OTF are among the stupidest ten or twenty percent of people in the world.

I'm so sorry :(

I have no idea what you're going through right now because I've yet to lose a family member.

I think you should tell her, because she may feel even more depressed and think that she's being isolated from the family and unloved. Well, it's mostly up to you.

Sorry to hear that. I wish you the best and hope that your family and yourself will somehow find a way to pass through this time of mourning.
