So I am on the big island right now and taking a lunch break.  Not really hungry so I plugged into the TACWAN so I could surf the net.  I told everybody I wouldnt be back for 2 days but it looks like they are going to just fly us back in tonight.  Breakdown in communication is all, so hopefully I will be home by 2100.  Its fucking cool as hell too,  I talked to the pilot and my chalk commander and since my house only about 1/4 mile off of the flight path they are going to let me fast rope onto my balcony.  Hehe I hope the wife doesnt have a heart attack.

Something like that...

I am going to be fast roping from the back of a CH47(Chinook) from 120 ft down to my balcony.  Technically fast roping is not repeling as you do not have a swiss seat or any other ancillary(sp) equipment.  It is merely going do a rope really fucking fast.

Unfortunatly you would not beleive how many soldiers I have had to remind about wearing gloves when fast roping or rappelling period.(It is sad)  In my mind its a duh.

And this mission is bogus, bah.  I was brought out to affect repairs to some routing subsystems and they werent even broken.  The operatoers just had a head space and timing error.  Stupid fuckers forgot the dust shields and here at PTA all there is, is nothing but dust.  Gave them a good cleaning and they pass all tests.  Shit now I have nothing to do till the bird comes, for like another 6 hours, lol.

Ok so I am home now and man what a extremely exhilirating ride till the end(ok the end was fun but harrowing.).  The pilot was holding the bird in a hover and then a strong trade wind swept through the crater and the pilot went to adjust fire and I was not expecting it and as such I was not able to grasp the rope better.  Holy shit I am lucky I am a paratrooper, otherwise I wouldnt have fallen properly and might have fucked something up. When the bird swung hard I fell, it was only like 40ft, but damn it hurt and scared me as much as I thought it was awesome.
